History of Spinning
Spinning, the original indoor cycling program, was created by world class athlete and endurance cyclist Johnny "G" Goldberg as a convenient alternative to training for races. In 1989 he opened the first Spin center in California and developed the program to certify other spin instructors. Today "Spinning" is helping people in over 60 countries ride their way to mind and body health.
What is it?
Spinning is an aerobic exercise that takes place on a specially designed stationary race bike. Riders control the resistance on their own bikes, maintaining the ability to go at their own pace. As you pedal, the instructor guides you through a visualization of an outdoor cycling program. Some movements and positions include hill climbs, jumps, sprints, and interval training. Instructors use music, motivation, and coaching to lead students to their fitness goals.
Why you will LOVE it!
Spinning can burn 500 to 600 calories in one session. It strengthens your heart, tones your glutes, thighs, and calves. It is a mind and body experience. You are in control and can go at your own pace. If the class becomes too intense simply pedal more slowly or adjust the tension knob on the bike. Regardless of age or level of fitness, each program enables individuals to customize their workouts.
